benefits of renting
With many economists saying that we have "seen the bottom" and things should stabilize, how can you take advantage of construction opportunities without "leveraging the farm"? Rental companies, whether it be mine or any other locally owned equipment rental company, can really help. It's impossible to own every piece of equipment you might need when bidding and/or performing a job. Most rental companies carry a diverse fleet that give contractors the ability to complete their work without the capital investment. A huge benefit to any size contractor is the ability to "write off" the expense of the rental to take advantage of the tax laws. The contractor can keep his or her lines of credit free for lending purposes when bonding jobs. Another benefit to renting is the servicing of the equipment. Many contractors do not have the ability to employe a full time mechanic when equipment breaks. Rental companies typically have in-house and mobile mechanics to service and repair all of it's fleet. Transportation is another benefit to renting. At a minimal cost to the contractor, most rental companies can deliver and pick up any rental items. Compared to hiring outside (contracted) hauling companies, delivery fees are extremely reasonable. Owning vs renting is a question that everyone has dealt with. Whether it's with a home or a car, it's a question that needs to be evaluated. Both have benefits. Don't be afraid to ask your local rental company owner for advice. We also sell equipment. So we can walk you through the process. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at ned@vavolvorents.com.
